Don't hone your cylinder

I contacted my local machine shop about getting a nylon bristle hone done on my cylinder prior to installing my new wiesco pistion. He has been doing this a long time and knew all about the kawasaki cylinder lining. I believe he said it was called nickacel. He told me that the cylinder should not be honed at all. The theory is that the lining is very hard. Harder than the rings and that the rings will conform to the cylinder.

Any thoughts on this?

I use a green scotch brite pad to take the glaze off the cylinder.

I think this is pretty common. Honing not required.

Your KDX cylinder has an Electrofusion coating, not Nicasil. There's a jillion posts of people's thoughts on it. (hone, no hone, green scrubby pad, nothing, etc.)
