I have found three after market exhausts for my DR650, which I ride about 90/10 commuting (saves $9 a day gas and tolls over Silverado) and fire road/easy trails.

Two Brothers M-7 V.A.L.E for about $350
Supertrapp IDS2 Tunable bor about $260 (found one on **** for $190)
FMF "The Q" for about $330

What I am looking for is a little more power, a little throatier note and a cooler look.

I was also thinking about putting a Dunlop 606 on the rear for the off-road segment, but would this degrade my highway commute?

Any experiences or feedback greatly appreciated? Thanks much.

606's wear pretty good, about 1000 miles with mixed use.
The dr exhaust will reward you with more noise than performance if you don't refine the fueling side.
The cheap stuff looks like the best choice.
I'd think about an FCR if you want the next level.
After that a cam and a piston, maybe some headwork.

Thanks SFO. I did put the 606 on the rear, waiting for some more $$ for the exhaust. Since SF has now turned into Seattle, I have only ridden over the Bay Bridge once since last week, but the tire feels stable, not much different than stock. I had to do some searching to figure out what an FRC was but now I know. Looks like that is the carb of choice. I haven't seen one single after market header for my DR650.
