[QUOTE="_JOE_, post: 1342059, member: 77507"] So I'm going to try to get my bike registered this week. As long as that goes through I'm going to have to come up a lighting set-up. I only plan to use it as a commuter to work on road and keep it very off-roadable. I don't plan to change any suspension. The inspection laws aren't crazy on motorcycles here so it shouldn't be too much other than obvious things like mirrors, lights and tires. There's several options from simple and cheap to extensive and expensive. I want to stay somewhere in the middle. I want it done right but not overdone. Obviously the crf has no lighting coil so it will need a stator, check that off. Now my choices start. AC/DC? To battery or not to battery, That is the question. Sure, we can do a simple AC system with filament bulbs. But we can use way cooler LED T/S with DC. :boss: Lighting kits. There's a couple kits made for my bike but they're spendy for what you get. Then there's the ones made for the "X" crfs that have alot more components for alot less money. If I add a lighting coil why wouldn't I be able to adapt the X kit to my bike? I have a very good understanding of automotive electrical. This is really similar if we use the battery, how does the AC system work? Most of the kits include a regulator to run them AC or DC. Other than that what is required other than a handlebar switch, a wiring harness and lights? Here's some of the things I've been looking at....
