Yep I am fine with growing trees and harvesting them so we can build houses and such, but don't give me this crap that ORVs are damaging the forest when we are going to come through a and wipe them out anyhow. What a joke! By the way Tom Dunn and Alan Randt have been working with the DNR trying to get permission to run enduros through forests that are slated for harvesting anyhow.

Is that the As the Reader Sees it or an Editorial? I only see that online version and it looks like a column written by the papers editor.

Geez! What a biased and misinformed article? How is it that trail riders and meth labs are linked???

While I like mountain bike riding as much as dirt bike riding, the statement that they don't cause erosion is bunk. While it's certainly not as much as dirt bikes (sorry, but ANYTHING that breaks through the soil base can cause erosion), I've ridden on trails that are MTB or hiking only that are a mess due to erosion. (including hills on the North Country Trail).

This article is a good example of a person that is ignorant of a subject spreading mis-information as truth, and unfortunately getting others to believe it.

Alright, correct me if I am wrong but isn’t the subject article supposed to be addressing off-road vehicle regulations relative to public land, i.e. our national forests?

How then can the “author” include subjects like trespassing (can you trespass on public land?), meth labs, piles of trash, and paved bicycle trails? I was half expecting to see a commentary paragraph thrown in about the war in Iraq.

What a blithering idiot, eh?

I don’t think these articles have anything to do with fact or what the majority wants or believes is right. It has everything to do with an attempt to further a leftist agenda. To me, this sounds like the voice of someone who would like to see all public forests designated off limits to internal combustion engines of any type.

That article HAD to have been directly form the Comical Staff!! I say that because they told me that NOTHING could be published from the readers responses for two weeks.. It takes that long to get thru the process.. I am positive "they" are responding to our overall response via phone!! By the way, notice how NOW they are directly linking us, as mentioned earlier, with drugs and GARBAGE!! That is how this paper works guys! It was NO coincident that the article that was directly below the "ORV" artcicle was about CRIME!!
We are being SHAFTED big time!
Concerning erosion, you should see some of erosion effects from the DNR's APPROVED logging processes! Or from their roads leading back to their Forest Fire Outlook Posts (found in the Whskey Creek area - its MASSIVE oever 12 feet deep and they dont bother to repair it!!).. A fox digging a hole in a hill side can cause erosion.. A stream being flooded out by rains causes HUGE erosion problems. Back wash from Hurricanes cause MASSIVE erosion... Point being, our planet is being eroded constantly... I think these idiots who present these types of arquements as legit reasons for us to stop living should be sent to somewhere else to live - one without erosion, like the sun ;)

What a bunch of CRAP! Pedal bikes are greatest gift to the area and make you healthy. On the other hand powered trail riders are scourge of the earth and fat bellied old men. I guess they've never rode a long trail?

Yea I would sooo like to take the writer of that article on a nice gentle trail ride somewhere easy....say Drummond, to show him just how out of shape us ofroad riders are. He would be wimpering within 1 hour guarenteed.
