On my son's 2003 CR85, where the exhaust chamber meets the cylinder head, it is leaking. I'm working on the spooge problem(jetting etc.). The question I have is, the end of the pipe seems much larger than the flange. The metal type gasket isn't much larger. When I put the pipe on I can move it side to side a lot. Does this mean the metal gasket is bad, or is this normal? Also I was wondering if I could seal this end of the pipe with some type of silicone to make it a tighter seal? Thanks Dom.

your exhaust shouldn't move, so I would try replaceing the gasket if it still leaks you can you silicone RTV. I use the blue hi temp RTV, you can get it at any auto parts store. just make sure you clean the area real good with carb cleaner or brake cleaner first.

Same problem

I have this same problem...

I have used high temp RTV and chamber seal with no luck.

The RTV will eventually blow out, I just hit that area with a little break cleaner after each ride now and just go with it. It think it is a flaw in the bike. :flame:
