Is it hard to get financing on a AF.... After all all the bank cares about is the collateral (the bike). And in their eyes does one of these gems even exsist....

I would have to say yes to that question. being that there are so many sold a year and its proven resale value is darn good. actually better then darn good. but like any bank type deal its all about credit history.
Service can very easy show resale and things of that nature.
Send me an e mail if you wish and i can give you some more info on it, after i get all the scoop from the boss man or aj after he heals a little more.

If you don't mind paying a relatively high interest rate you can just use the Honda card - I did it all over the phone with Service and it is pretty painless. My bike had quite a few extras (EGorr porting, ignition cover, 18"rear) and it is $200 per month.

Resale value of the bike is outstanding and they are in such demand that they are very easy to sell. I have absolutely no regrets buying my bike.

Basically, you just need to speak with a loan officer who is conversant on dirtbikes. Your best bet would be to try a community bank where you could actually talk to a real person and show him your research. Going to one of the mega banks will be fruitless unless it falls within their policy and they offer a "product" (doubtful).

The main thing is your credit history (score) and income. If you pass the credit scoring profile, some bank should be able to finance it for you.

Good luck with it. Too bad you're not in Little Rock, we could fix you right up!

We have 5 years of sales receipts and "selling" info for any bank..
there has never been a problrm financing for the sale amount as long as credit was intact.
heck Hondas own finance program and/or the Honda card recognizes the AF "value" and adjusts the loan acoordingly.

Dint know you were looking into one ? :)
I remember you called jer while were were in socal on the way to the track.
but my memory gets fuzzy after that insueing ambulance ride..lol

A.J. - Yeah, Jer had my Berg suspenders.

I hope you get better soon. I kinda know how you feel. I have been out for a about a month now with 2 broken ribs, bruised right lung and 2 tore up kidneys that would not stop bleeding.

I figured it was the perfect time to send my stuff off....

Anyway onto the AF. Yep I have decided that my next bike is going to be an AF. I like the power of an open bike and the new frames are really sexy. I really like my Berg too. Its light, handles great, and is fast as hell. But I have to admit that I am crossing my fingers as to wether or not this bike will hold together for 2 years.

I also think I like the 2 strokes better. Since 98 I have had a DR350 (waste of money) a 380EXC (kick butt bike would have another in SX trim) and the FC550 (great bike so far). I rode Kiwi's AF in Reno and I really really liked it. I think an AF with Jeremy's magic, a big tank, steering damper, and a spark arresstor would be the bike for me.

I am in the process of getting a game plan together on how to get rid of my Berg in 6 months or so and into an AF.

After the deposit how long a wait is there before the bike is ready? Is there a waiting list?

well..with me "out of shape a bit"
the wait is a few weeks more no doubt right now.

but i expect to be back on schedule in 30 days..
so when you atre ready to order the wait should be 2 weeks after you deposit the bike ships( add a week for shipping) so total of 3 weeks wait.

keep in mind extras like suspension and other things ( ordering desert tanks /stabalizers) take a bit longer depending of those aftermarket guys schedules?
but usually that doesnt add any time, since we order that stuff as soon as you put down the deposit.
on the financing guys have bought $14K AFs and the bank had no problem financing-
as youd expect it depended on thier credit history and amount of down payment.
i dont think thats ever really much of a worry.

How many are you building a year? With the CR500 being a thing of the past how long will you continue to get motors? Yeah credit is not a problem, banks seem more than happy to give money away right now. I just need to get my ducks in a row......

I can build engines for another ten years..
not sure how long I'll make the AF but as long as guys still want them?

i'm assuming a few more years at the least..and since it basically is all "honda" parts it would never be a problem, getting parts etc.

I build about 150 AFs per year..

but hey im trying to retire to Maui so id like to cut back ..LOL
( totally kidding ok? ) Ill be doing around 200 a year or more , for awhile im sure.
