Great post! I love first ever ride reports, they're the best! Sounds like you may have been bitten just the same as everyone else here. There is nothing like the first time for a life long memory. My 1st time ever to race was a little less than a year ago. Tigger & I had camped out at the local race track the night before and we had parked too close to the train so sleep was something I lacked the night before. As we watched the riders pulling in and setting up their pits my daughter suggested that I should race. My 1st response was I was too old. She emphaticly suggested I was not and I should just try it & ride my ride. I reluntantly agreed. I honestly don't remember where I placed in that race but I wasn't last and that's all it took. The next month I spent practicing at the local track and decided to race the next time as well. We showed up just before dark the night before the races and parked further from the train. ;) As I looked the track over I was shocked to discover thay had totally redone the finish line. Where once had been a small table-top was now a huge table-top and a GIANT double for the finish. The next morning I geared up to find a really well watered track (black hard packed dirt & slick when wet). As I approached the new section in practice I just went for it, nobody else was doing it. To my surprise I made it with ease. What a feeling to fly over that thing. I ended up the day with a 4th overall in the over 40 class and have been hooked ever since. side note: Immediately after the race they tore down the new section and made it into a 110' triple since shortened to 70'. Dang it! I had it down. :whiner: Be sure and post your experiaence on the 2nd ever race, good luck & welcome the the MX life. :aj:
