Took the new Bike out for the first time on Saturday...It is much lighter and stable than I ever thought it would be...Heres my first impression and let me know what you guys think and if I am on the right track...Also be aware I am coming off a 250 2 stroke...

Temp outside was 30 degrees F broke bike in for about an hour and a half and changed oil/filter and then really got on it....Top end is great and it just pulls and pulls but it is missing the snap in 1st and 2nd gear that I thought it would have. I really had to feather the clutch in the woods to get it up the steep hills at low speed. It was almost like it was bogging at first start.

With this said and taking temp into account I am thinking of lower main jet needle one clip. Is this correct? Also adding 2 + teeth to the rear sprocket to give it that umph in the lower gears...Are there any other simple mods I may be able to do or is this something I just need to get used to.

Don't get me wrong this bike is sick but I just want to stop stalling up the steep hills....

at 30 degrees, I would think that it is running on the lean side. I started mine sunday and rode up and down the drive twice between ice patches, (about 28degrees) and it was running real lean. Rejet for the cool weather and try it.

You need to change the stock 42 pilot for a 48 and it will have a lot more snap off idle, also, the stock pipe is really restrictive.....I put on a FMF Titanium powercore and the bike not only barks off of idle it gave the bike a lot more in the midrange and topend!

I will look into the pipe and thanks for the advice. As far as changing the Pilot Jet is this as easy as taking off the bottom of the carb, unscrewing the 42 and replacing it with the 48. Put the carb back togather and that is all? Or is there a lot more to it?

I'm not familiar with your specific bike but changing jets is usually as easy as you described. Sounds like a bigger pilot jet will help. You may want to hold off on the sprocket changes for now. I find it hard to believe that bike would need any help on the bottom end when jetted properly.

The pilot jet is really easy to get to. I can replace it through the main jet access cover. You won't believe how much better the thing runs with a 48 pilot in the carb!
