Hi all,

I know that this isn't a dirtbike topic, but *shrug*. :) I've gotta tell someone. My family is already sick of hearing about it. :blah:

A few of you know that this past spring I started training to earn my private pilots license. While I haven't gotten there yet, this week saw one of the major milestones achieved.

I soloed (no other person in the plane :yikes: ) for the first time Thursday afternoon, and survived to tell the tale. Actually, I think I did pretty well.

If anyone is interested, I composed a full write up on the flight in my dirtblog.

That is quite an achievement Keith. I remember my first solo like it was yesterday (was it really 25 years ago?) and it is a moment in time you will cherish forever.

Your private pilot license is just around the corner. Keep the blue-side up.

Thats really something to be very proud of,PK.Even though I was a jet-mech,and turbine prop mech in the Airforce,I could never work up the nerve to try and take(private) pilots lessons.I guess you could say I just didn't have the guts to try it,but after reading your detailed post in your "dirtblog" I might have to rethink it.

Your story actually had me thinking back when I was doing grounded test engine runs.........I miss those day ,and miss working on them.

Very cool, congrats Papa! After 10 years of wanting to get my license I finally started a couple weeks ago as well :bang:. I can't wait to solo, but in no rush lol. I can sense it must feel like lining up for your very first national or something .

WooHoo!!!

I bet the instructor cleared PK to solo just so he wouldn't have to try to squeeze into a 152 with him anymore! :o

My father taught flying when I was a kid (CFII) but refused to teach me...I guess he thought maybe I'd be dangerous?). My best memories as a kid were flying with my dad.

BTW, what kind of plane are you flying and what is AWOS?

How soon can you give me a free ride to Cooperland? We need to buzz the tower.
