I also use the 1/4" spacer between the head and the pipe. It brings the pipe into play about 500RPM early, shortens the length of time it takes until the kips opens at 4500RPM. I think the whole show is over about 6000RPM-time to shift. There's really no winding out the motor---it's a torque pipe and works well on tight, rough, steep trails that usually have no run up before you've got to go up! If you like that sort of riding in 1st 2nd & 3rd try a flywheel weight you'll be surprised how it improves traction and smooths out slow rocky trails.
