Forks got serviced, doesn't compliment the back now

I'm a beginner rider, and my forks were so bad that the oil was black and goopy in there as per the mechanic that serviced them. They were just starting to feel soft to me, so that gives you an idea. I'm on a 1996 RM250.

Before the service, the bike felt good, but soft on big jumps. I would bottom the forks out on bad small landings. Now they are nice and plush and stiff again, which leaves the rear, which used to compliment the worn out forks, being over powered by the stiffer forks.

Mainly what's going on is that in whoops, the front end is staying high, then plopping down, and the rear feels a little like a pogo stick. I no longer have that nice see-saw effect when going through the whoops. More like the front is not being used enough and the rear is being used too much.

And then in turns the front wants to give out early compared to the rear because the front is stiffer than the rear.

So the front and rear suspension is both fresh, and I guess just needs to be dialed in a little, but I don't know where to start. Can someone give me ideas about what to do with the back?

have you tried to adjust the dampening or sag on the rear shock?

Well I don't know what I'm supposed to do, that's why I'm asking. I do know that there is sag and a compression and rebound clicker, but I don't know what I need to do to improve the action.

Here are a few "How to" articles from transworld motocross that will get you pointed in the right direction. All of the rear shock action stems from your initial Sag setups. Both Free Sag and Race Sag; get those in the right zone and it should make a world of difference.
