Front Sprocket Trouble

I received my new front renthal sprocket today and to my surprize the new sprocket had gear like shaft splines. The shaft on my bike has the big wide splines: a KX250r 2001. Any ideas why this is like this? The new sprockets pack states that it is for my year range bike but it just does not match up. :think:

Wouldn't be the first time I've seen the wrong part in the right package.
