Heard there was a headon crash at Gator m/x on Saturday with one fatalty, any truth or knowledge of this? This a track about 30 minutes north of Houston.

Andrew Walker passed away today, as a result of massive head injuries from that crash.

Sorry to hear the rumor was true, such a tragic way to start the new year off. Our prayers are with his family. Understand he had 2 kids. Anybody know them and how we could help? Rob

My first day on the track was Sunday morning. Well, it was the first time on my new bike, and the first time on a track ever.

I pulled up about 900am to meet my friend, and he told me that he had talked to the manager and he told him of the accident.
Apparently, one of the guys was new to the track and took a corner too fast and slid into the section next to it. The other guy had just come off a jump and they hit head on. The manager said it was pretty awful. He also mentioned that they had never had to call the EMS before that day, but that day there was that wreck and another where the guy broke his ankle.

I'm sorry to hear about that guy losing his life...it's terrible.

that seems like one of those things that you could go to the track thousands of times and never have anything like that happen. it's really sad when a freak accident comes together like that and people get hurt or even killed by just trying to have fun.

yeah, that was my general feeling about the accident. It was funny to be riding on the track while there were investigators checking out the corners etc...
I kept noticing these two guys taking notes in the center of one of the corners, my friend and I figured they were Police officers investigating the accident.
It kept me from acting foolish, I'll just have to remember that I'm not bulletproof.

They were probably either insurance or lawyer investigators. Sounds like a tight track.

www.racedirect.com has the latest info. Visitation is on Thursday 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Heights Funeral Home. The funeral is on Friday at 11:00am.
Have not heard of any fund set up for his family.:ugg:

The young person who ran off the track was traveling way too fast on an unfamiliar track. He wheelied and went straight on a long right hand sweeper that has two apexes on it. Not realizing this He blew the berm on the second apex and stopped, facing the wrong way down from a jump.This track is not tight as suspected. It is a fast, wide open track with very few difficult sections. I know this is a dangerous sport where anything can happen but is sad that this death could have been prevented if the young person had rode the track a few times to at least learn it!
