1) your physical size: 5'5 145lbs.
2) How physical / aggressive are you ? aggressive
3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ????? everything mostly woods, fields, and with friends.
4) Do you have any riding experience? yes about 3 years on my ttr125L and about 10 on fourwheelers and snowmobiles.
5) Do you think you will race ? Hopefully I want to
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work? yes and if not i have plenty of people around
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)? not really
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry? everything
9) How much ($) do you plan to spend on a bike? $1,000
10) Do you live in California? no Michigan
11) Your age? 19

Anyways I have been wanting to upgrade to a bigger bike to get the feel and get good at handling one. I found a 1989 or 1990 RM 125 that is in perfect shape, but has no title. My friend has had the bike for awhile and hasnt rode it and i offered him $500.00 just to get it off his hands which he can probably get more out because it looks good. But I want it really bad do you think this is a good buy? or even a good bike for me? Also I sat on it and i cant get my whole foot on the ground but a good majority of it.

well at that old it will be hard to find parts for it, but if i was you id go with a more modern bike ive seen 125's go for 1,200 around here that are filledd up with aftermarket goodies i also have a feeling that that bike is going to be a money pit

I agree with the above post a modern 125 sounds right and your feet dont need to touch the ground all the way on a bike btw.

I own a 1986 YZ-125 that until 9 months ago was my main ride and I still will choose it when I am just messing around. I haven't had any problems finding the parts I needed, especially factory OEM parts. After market parts, such a pipes, jetting kits and suspension upgrades are generally not available however.

$500 seems like a good price to me, especially because the tires, seat etc. look to be in good shape. I also think that a 125 cc two stroke would be a good bike for you.

I say go for it!

Its been a long time, but back when I raced, a few friends had RM125's and I believe that they started making them with front discs in 1985 and rear discs in 1987. Your pic is a little hard to make out, but looks like drums front and rear. Also the seat graphic looks like an 84 or 85 model. You might want to check into it before you buy it. ;)

A 125 2 stroke would be good for you. Like what was already said you can get a much newer, modern bike for $1100 and up. It'll be a lot less headache to find parts for it. Most people can't touch with both feet or flat footed.

Indeed...MXGirl230 is right. You can do a lot better for your money. There are 2 - 2002 125s for sale here, and both are 1100 dollars.
