About a year ago I was having similar problems with the middle joints on my fingers. Much of it was due to how I was holding on and body position on cerain tyoes of terrian. I am tall at 6'4" so I was riding more towards the rear of the bike and hanging on by using my fingers and not my hands. What I did to correct this was, I moved my center foward on the bike [where it should be] while standiing. Make sure you are using an attack position , chin over the bar mounts, you will notice your hands are now more on the grips than your fingers. It is a bit weird to get used to since you are now over gripping on the grips. It will reduce stresses placed on your hands since your elbows are now acting like a piston by pumping up and down on the rough stuff. Sit on you bike on a stand and squeeze your shoulder blades, you should feel your torso come forward, it will move you forward and over the bars. You will notice it changes where your hands are on the grips. Practice while doing some starts, when you stand keep those shoulder blades back you will be in attack postion.
