I just bought my first dirt bike 93 YZ250. I know... I know... everyone's telling me it's to powerful for my first bike lol... but, it was very cheap. My question is, what yrs. interchanges parts with this yr.? Any help would be appreciated.
I think most of the 94 and 95 parts interchange, and probably most of the 92' engine parts. Check www.bikebandit.com or www.yamahaoftroy.com and look at the part numbers of different things.
From what I've experience with my 95, YZs from 93-95 are pretty much the same, in fact I have a 93 transmission in mine. 96 they changed the frame/plastics because 96+ the plastics won't work, but the engine is the same, because I have a '96 manual and it's exactly the same as my 95.
somebody correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure that 93-97 engines are basically the same and wr's 94-97. wr's are different than yz's being different port designs for different power spreads and of course wide ratio trans. and body/chassis for 93-95 yz and 94-97 wr also interchange minus seat and gas tank (and radiator shrouds) oh yeah i got the 94 wr250..... really i guess you could say the wr is a different bike, and that some parts interchange.
Congrats on your bike. I have a '93 YZ250 I use as my backup bike. That model has a very ridable engine. Mine has the GYT long rod kit (5mm longer rod and spacers) and it screams.
