I was cleaning my air filter and say these little black dirt specs in the foam. I tried my best to get them out but there is still some in there. How do I get them out or will they get in my engine? Should I just go ahead and oil it? Thanks!

How are you washing it? I like to wash mine in kerosene, but soapy water will do, then I blow it off with a compressor and let it air dry for a few hours. If you cant get everything out with that method then it may be time for a new air filter.

Yeah, I am thinking about a new filter because there is a very small rip in mine. I use kerosine and the wash it in soapy water. i them spray it off. I don't have an air compressor so I can't do that. The little specs are inside the foam and won't come out. Thanks for your help!

After it was completely dry, the little dirt just fell out. Thanks for the reply!

Well, it is a 2 layer filter and the hole is not even big enough for a tooth pick to go through. The bottom layer is fine with no holes. I was going to use this filter for maybe 2-3 more rides and then get a new one. Do you think this is safe or should I not ride it? Sorry for all of the questions but I am really just getting into dirtbiking. Thanks!

The air filter is your #1 safeguard against engine damage. If you have to question the integrity of it, then its probably better to replace it.
