Help, Need Base Valve Torque Spec!

Can someone verify the torque spec for the fork base valve. I'm reading 52ft lbs in my service manual. Is this correct? That is way high to me. I'm tore down needing a quick response.

That is correct for years prior to 2000-2001.

The supplement that is in my book on the 2000-2001 KDX says 40ft lbs. As long as your talking about T7 torque specs. :)

If you want the 2000-2001 supplement specs I can email you a copy. I will have to scan them in my computer first. Let me know.

40 sounds better to me. I found 40 in my supplement, that I did not konw was back there! Daaaa... Thanks for the info.

On the supplement page 16-15 the reference is T7 on the exploded view. That is how I look up torque specs. I should have explained in more detail. :eek:

Yeah, T7 is the only thing I could find that resembled the base valve. I'm assuming that is what they are referring to. Thanks again, I'm glad I'm not going crazy, yet.....
