HELP US KEEP
WALKER VALLEY TRAILS
OPEN FOR RIDING

Recent reviews by state agencies of Walker Valley trails and their impacts on water quality have led to a potential loss of trails and a “seasonal closure” of this beautiful riding area. The trail work that Skagit Motorcycle Club is doing is not, by itself, enough and we need your HELP! We have identified the problem areas with the DNR and we will be doing intense trail work weekends to fix them.

We need all of you who ride Walker Valley trails to come out and work with us. **BONUS ** For each of the 6 listed days worked Skagit Motorcycle Club will give you a $5.00 discount on your entry to the October 20th Duck’s Delight Poker Run.

Work weekend #1 July 27 & 28
Work weekend #2 August 10 & 11
Work weekend #3 September 7 & 8

Meet at the trailhead at 9:00 a.m. each day and plan on full days. Tools will be provided and/or bring your own: chainsaw, pulaski, machete, shovel, rake, maddock, etc.

Howdy Folks,

This is a very important issue for anyone who rides in Washington.
If Walker Valley becomes a "summer only" riding area it will push the riders from there to the other areas and lead to future overuse problems elsewhere.

If our access to Walker Valley is to be preserved, it will have to be accomplished by the riders. For both political and financial reasons, the Department of Natural Resources will not be doing it for us.

The Walker Valley riding area is located on 6000 acres of State trust land. Funding for public schools is generated by timber sales. The DNR is required by law to manage the area in the best interest of the trust. They DO NOT have any obligation to provide recreational access and connot allow it if it detracts from the value of the trust. Current battles with Skagit County, the Department of Ecology and some anti-motorsport neighbors are costing the DNR time and money. They are not allowed to let the current situation continue.

It might not seem fair, but if we don't fix it, nobody else will. I hope to see some of you out on the trail helping the Skagit Motorcycle Club with the massive trail project they have taken on.

happy trails

Tod
