I ride and work at our local tracks. I watch and talk to this very fast guy and his name is Tony Graham. I have talked to him about how he hits the shoter jump wide open. He told me that he hold the throttle wide open just like he would on any other straight, and when he hits the face of the jump and is slmost in the air he jerks the front tire (harder to go a shorter distance)!! He is very technical so you might want to practice this on smaller jump before the bigger one!!! I mean this guy is rider East Supercross thsi season!!! There is some other stuff that he has told me, i have i wrote down, if you need anymore of it, let me know iand i will be glad to give it to you!! ;)
