hi guys great forum
ive been reading here for a while but i need help
so heres the thing
i was out on sunday and the bike just jammed
now after stripping down i know that the big end and piston are gone
but my dilemma is the cylinder barrel is badly scored and ive been quoted about £150 to get it repaired
but ive been offered a barrel off of a 2001 cr250 a lot cheeper
but would it fit i know the piston is the same but would it work
many thanks for any replys

I moved your thread over here. Someone will help you out soon.

Is the bike in question the 97 CR250 you have listed?

I'm not totally, certain, but I the 01 CR cylinder should mount to your cases and use the same bore diamater as your 97 cylinder. There may be differences in the PV mechanism but probably not. I know some folks swap the 99 cylinder onto their 01's to get a smoother power delivery for woods riding, (and vice versa for mx and dez). The 01 cylinder should yeild a little performance improvement as well with its updated porting specifications. 02 and up cylinders would most certainly not fit, as they are a case reed engine. If it were my bike I'd try the 01 cylinder if the price were right:)
