Uhhh ... the "dude" you are referring to is the owner of the site. He knows it far better than you ever will.

Check out the FAQ, read the information below, yada, yada ...

I am willing to bet you find the answers to ALL of your questions here.

<<<<<<<<< Why? >>>>>>>>>>>>>

Support DRN, Feel Good

DRN has grown dramatically over the last 5 years and there is no end in sight. As such, our costs to maintain the site have gone through the roof. In an effort to keep the site self supportive and maintain continued growth, we have developed upgrade programs: DRN Subscriptions & DRN SupportTeam Memberships.

What is it?
It's for those that would like to contribute to the forums to insure it's longevity and continued evolution. This program was designed to help offset the operating costs of the dedicated server, bandwidth and developmental/software costs. Your support will allow us to continue to improve the site and cover the costs associated with providing this resource.

Is DRN worth $3.25 a month to you?

These programs are optional. Other forums like DRN have gone to full subscription based programs, forcing all members to contribute. We're doing it differently. We'd ask that those that WANT to contribute, do so. For those that can't, or prefer not to, you can still use the forums, but on a limited basis.

How to Join

To join one of the memberships, please go to "User CP" (the link in the nav bar at the top of the forums). That will take you to your control panel. See the links on the left side of the screen in the user control panel, scroll to the bottom and click "DRN Memberships" then select an option.

We hope you find value in the Forums and will consider supporting it!

You are half right ... :nener:

You have to be a subscriber to have an avatar.

It is less than the cost of one Big Mac per month. Such the bargain. Band width costs a ton of money and avatars, sig lines, etc. consume band width.

You must be the lucky 100th person to register after a fullmoon which occurred on a Saturday ;)
Don't say anymore or it might disappear

BTW welcome to the site and be sure to soak in all the info you can

Proxy - welcome aboard.

In a different thread you had asked about the AMA. For some reason that thread appears as "closed" now - I suspect due to some of the rather smart a$$ answers being provided. AMA is the American Motorcyclist Association. Sanctioning body for most forms of motorcycle racing in the US. Membership gets you a variety of benefits - they fight for your rights to ride, a nice monthly magazine, and ability to compete in AMA sanctioned events. (and a bunch of other good reasons) Well worth joining even if you dont plan to race. (I have been a member for 15 or 20 years, only been racing the last 4). When you join, you get an AMA #, the last 3 digits of which are the numbers you display on your bike (in most, but not all cases) when racing. Hence my prior smart aleck response previously of "join the AMA and get a real number".

Membership is like $37 per year. Normally to compete you will also need a local district membership - dunno what dues are where you live). Find more info here:
www.ama-cycle.org

Again - join regardless of if if plan to compete or not. Well worth it.
