Honda Cr125 engin?

So i have a 2001 engine...it needs a topend jod done to it soon. But my bike is a 1997 cr125 and iv heard that the 97 had a beater engine....iv got someone who has offered me a 97 topend....would it fit on a 2001 bottom end??? since the 97 is apperently beater i would only have to fined the trany for the 6 speed and do the swap...

any helpful info will be greatly appreciated
