I recently came across this article on another board, the author works at a Honda dealership, so I'm just passing it on.......... *** Official CRF 150R Swing Arm Recall *** Honda released yesterday that there officially is a recall on some CRF150R/B swing arms. Letters are on the way explaining it to all customers, but I will copy the important bits of information here. What is the reason for this recall? A defect may exist in the weld on the right side of the swingarm on some 2007 and 2008 Honda CRF150R, small and large wheel versions. Under certain riding conditions, the weld could crack and the swingarm could fail. What should you do? This is a stop sale recall, meaning dealerships may not sell affected units until after the recall has been performed. Honda recommends you do not ride your bike if it is affected until the recall has been performed. If you must ride before the swingarm is replaced, inspect the right side weld(the one an inch or so behind your rear brake master cylinder) and avoid large jumps and impacts. If there is any evidence of a crack DO NOT RIDE. What is the fix? The fix is to replace the entire swingarm. Replacement swingarms for the Big Wheel versions will begin to ship during mid November 2008 to dealers, the number of initial shipments will be based on the individual dealer's current inventory and past sales history. For the small wheel version swingarms will begin to ship in January 2009. The repair is free of charge. How do I know if my 150 is affected? If your unit's VIN falls into this range it is part of this recall. 2007 CRF150R (Standard Wheel) JH2KE033*7K000001 thru JH2KE033*7K005279 2007 CRF150R (Large Wheel) JH2KE03C*7K000001 thru JH2KE03C*7K005821 2008 CRF150R (Standard Wheel) JH2KE033*8K100001 thru JH2KE033*8K101016 2008 CRF150R (Large Wheel) J2HKE03C*8K100001 thru JH2KE03C*8K101334 I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on this, but I in no way take responsiblity for this imformation. If I got a digit wrong or Honda modifies this information don't sue me if your kids swing arm explodes and you didn't think it needed to be fixed based on my post, read the letters you get, or if in doubt consult your dealer or Honda directly.
