If he's 8, I'd look at a CRF70.

I'll be driving by your way the weekend of Nov 19-20 if you want me to join you while you look at one. It helps toi have someone experience to look at a used one, if you're going used.

Sounds good, if you have some extra time I'd appreciate it.

I'll PM you my Cell #

Wouldn't let me PM you...you've got mail

I am a medic and I have no desire to get a skin graft so the gear is a must for me lol. As far as getting a bike for me...I don't think I will. I want the kid to have all the fun and I want to have fun watching. If I do get one it may be down the road a little, what am I thinking :coocoo: I have a '00 ZX-7R and a 04 ZX-10R so I really don't need anything else right now. I will likely want to enjoy riding trails and such too but right now I don't want any of the focus to be on me. I've commited to getting him squared away.

I've got 8 at the moment ... there is alway room for another good bike!

Trust me on this, get one for the memories, if for no other reason. Dirtbikes are a family affair. My grandson (almost 5) is getting an XR50 for Christmas.

I followed my 8YO around the property for 45 min today. His version of technical riding is maneuvering around a whole slew of obstacles like a wiffle ball bats, pumpkins, soccer and footballs, safety cones, picnic bench, horse pits (w/o stacks), trees, Mom's car, rocks, shed, trampoline. We had a blast. Then we cooled off and talked about the ride while passing the football. It sure beats sitting on the deck w/ a beer.

Suggestion - buy a ride bike and ride together
