I got a couple of responses from the legislators so far. Nothing out of the ordinary, "thank you for expressing your opinion, yadda, yadda, yadda" At least they know someone's watching.

Got this reply along with some more info. Sorry if this is repeated contact information, but it sure seems like some of these folks are willing to point us in the right direction. The email is as follows:

Thank you for your recent correspondence in which you expressed your concern
for Assembly Bill 2238, which as you may know, is sponsored by Assemblyman
Eric Munoz and if enacted, would prohibit the use of all terrain vehicles,
dirt bikes, off road motorcycles and other similar off road vehicles in
State parks and forests. Your thoughts are always welcomed and appreciated.

After being introduced on May 9, 2002, A-2238 was referred to the Assembly
Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee where it now awaits
consideration. To further influence this legislation, I recommend that you
contact each member of the committee, which I have listed below. Please
rest assured that I will keep your comments and concerns in mind when the
time comes for me to consider this legislation with a vote.

In conclusion, I thank you again for contacting me in this regard. In the
future, if I can be of assistance in relation to this or any other State
issue, please do not hesitate to notify my office.

Very truly yours,

E. Scott Garrett

Another important reply:

We have received your E-mail and appreciate your comments regarding off road highway vehicle use on state land. We believe that prohibiting the granting of permits for off-road vehicle use on State Forest land is a decision that should be made between the individual municipalities working directly with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

At present, we are waiting for Commissioner Campbell of the Department of Environmental Protection to make a decision on state policy covering this issue. We suggest that you also send a copy of your views and position directly to Commissioner Campbell for his review and reply. Following is the contact information for his office:

Commissioner Bradley M. Campbell

Department of Environmental Protection

401 East State Street

7th Floor, East Wing

Trenton, NJ 08625-0402

(fax) 609-292-7695

Again we thank you for your E-mail, your input is welcome and considered.

I'm positive I saw something in last month's issue of American Motorcyclist about this. I believe it was directing folks to the Rapid Response area of their site.

Dear Mr. DiSabatino:
Thank you for your correspondence concerning Assembly bill 2238. I have
received dozens of letters concerning this issue.
After further review of this bill and reading the thoughts of those I
represent, I will not support such legislation if it is introduced in the
Senate.
I commend you for taking an active role in your government and providing
first hand knowledge on an issue that effects the residents of the Third
Legislative District. Please feel free to contact my office in the future.

Sincerely,
Senator Stephen M. Sweeney

I've be away frome the computer for a wile now and I found 20 or so replys to the letter I sent to all the NJ Reps. in addition to a letter much like the one BigLou posted I got this little gem from ASM Carroll I think it's a good sign, in that some one thinks that it's wrong to ban large groups of people fome the public lands. :)
