how do i know what year and make

i have a suzuki bike and need to know how to find out what year and make the bike is... the seat says DR on it...ive been a mechanic for 12 yrs and never messed with bikes...but itll turn over then stalls out im thinking carb problems...but ive never messed with a bike carb and dont want to mess it up...any help gettin this thing runnin would be awsome....phil :bang:
