How do you remove the grease seals on linkage?

I got the linkage apart and I'm trying to grease it up but I can't seem to get the grease seals off with out damaging them. I tried using a screwdriver and a sharp knife but it's not coming out and I don't want to damage the seal. Is there an easy way to get it out?

I'm not going to spell this right....

Use an awl.

Mine have always popped out using the method you described. But you really don't need to remove them just to grease the bearings. Maybe try a little penetrating fluid.
