If you go to my pictures in my signature, look at the 1st two pictures. My bike has new graphics, backgrounds and a few other things. How does it look for a 1996. I'm putting and FMF pipe and silencer on it next sring, and completing all the blaclk plastics. It's parked for the winter now because the clutch is fried, and it's winter time here now. Tell me what u think, and what color i should paint the frame(BESIDES WHITE!). I'm thinking zuki gray:cool:

not a bad lookin' scoot ;)
as for what color to do the frame, on my basket case CR rebuild I used a fresh cast aluminum colored engine paint and then some clearcoat, turned out great. Pics are in my sig. line but I'll just link to the best image of the frame here.

I think you should match the gold or yellow color in the honda wings. I think it would look very sweet with the that and the rest of the plastic black. The only other color besides white that I could think of would be black. If I went black I would go with a flat and not glossy.

Hey, smb where did you get that cast aluminium paint engine paint? Who makes it and is it heat rated?

got it at autozone, around $3.50 a can. It's made by duplicolor and it's the ceramic engine paint (supposedly). I put on 3 coats and let it dry thoroughly between coats. Then 2 more coats of the high temp clearcoat. It usually takes a while to wear off the frame, and if you clearcoat the high wear areas between rides it lasts for a very long time.

The paint is good to 500° and it's Dupli-color DE1650 Cast Coat Aluminum. After the bike is finished I hope to have some higher quality photos of the whole thing, it almost perfectly matches the silver honda wing on my One industries graphics.

Jason is fine now, he did that on May 19th. He was out for a few months. And MikeT: I'm(Rylan) I'm the one that did that to my face. I didn't break my wrist:) . The way i did that to my face was kind of funny. I was on the 2001 Canada nationals BMX track at Silver Star Mountain(Aug30/01). I was doing my last lap with my BMX helmet on, and then i was going to put my Moto-x helmet on. Go figure i crashed hard on my last lap with the BMX helmet on. I still dont know what did,(class 2 concussion),and i messed my face up pretty good. That was my worst crash in my life so far, and it was on a friggen BMX.I have so many scars on my body, i cant count, and now my face is full of scars. But hey i'll take a scar over a broken bone anyday:cool:

If money was no object, I'd vote for nickel plating the frame. ATK used to do this to their frames to save weight, and it doesn't wear off like paint does.

Isn't nickel plating brittle? Did ATK use an additive with thier frame coating? Anybody out there have any expierience with it?

Powder Coat it. Lasts much longer and protects against rust.

Hey I see some of you are in Simi Valley.

My cousin has a powder coating company there, Pyramid powder coating. Actually it is in Sun Valley tell him I sent ya he will get you a great deal.

Sincerely,

Kingriz1
