RC only rode the 2 smoke in Supercross. He's on the 4fiddy for Outdoor.

There is a Video of Bubba floating around of him testing the Kawi 450 Prototype within the last week or so.

What if the AMA allowed larger displacement 2 strokes that are cleaner burning to compete? It would be cool if we got some 150cc 2 strokes from the manufacturers for the "125" class and 300cc 2 strokes for the "250" class

Forget it , it will never happen....

The only way to keep the 2 strokes alive is running separate classes , or limit the Schoolboy class to 125´s etc....

Just look at what was announced today at the Road Racing meeting in Mugello , Italy :

The 800cc limit will run for a minimum of five-years, assuring manufacturers of stability in return for the new engineering investment needed. Fuel capacity for the 800cc machines will be limited to 21 litres.

Meanwhile, two-stroke MotoGP engines - of which there are currently none - will be officially consigned to history with the additional news that from 2007 they will not be allowed in the premier-class.

This decision was necessary to ensure the four-stroke future of the class, since a 500cc two-stroke (as presently allowed) could potentially be competitive against an 800cc four-stroke, possibly promoting something of a two-stroke revival - which neither the major manufacturers or sport in general wants.

The sad thing is that while the current troubles for the 2-strokes are because of emissions , this new rule inside road racing simply rules out 2 strokes , regardless of how clean they can be made to run in the future ....
Unless someone cleans up the 2-stroke real quick , there is no( 2 stroke ) hope for the future , sorry..
Cant wait till the minis turns 4 stroke , too....Lets hope there will still be tracks to race on....

The only big ama guys that are riding the 250 2strokes outdoors are Bubba,M.Byrne, and S.Hamblin.All are riding the 05 kx 250.It wont be long and there will be zero 2strokes... :pissed: I for one, will be riding a good old 2 stroke for as long as possible!

I have a feeling that the old smokers are not done yet. They will be out for a while, but once they have cleaned them up properly, there will be no choice but to allow them back. And back they will be, or am I dreaming. No I am awake.

I have absolutely nothing against the 4 strokes as such , its just that everything is more complicated , and possibly more expensive. The bikes cost more , the parts cost more , and lots of people will have to bring them to a shop to get them fixed.
I would not have any problems fixing a 4 stroke myself , but I see many parents paying the dealer to have camchains replaced every 8 hours , because there was a problem with some of the blue bikes at some point.
MX is already a very expensive sport to get into......No one over here has ridden a 2 stroke outside a closed track for years anyway.
The problem with costs is probably bigger over here , as we pay more extra money to buy the 4 stroke , and the parts are typically double the price than what you pay in the US...
Then there is the noise problem.....OMG...
The ones still riding 2 strokes over here dont even bother looking after their exhaust any longer , the 4 strokes makes such a noise that they arent noticed anyway...
We used to have the most effective noise control any where , now they stay away or most of the bikes wouldnt be allowed to race

At least the 2 stroke dominates in supercross....What I don't like is the deciept involved.

First they allow larger displacement 4 strokes to lure riders to them to increase their chance at winning..Then, by the time they have everyone on a 4 stroke they outlaw the 2 stroke and make the 4 stroke smaller because the competiton is gone( no need for extra incentive now)...sure hope that doesn't happen in motocross...Could you imagine all the bikes being a 4 stroke AND the 125 class really is the 125 class ? All 4 strokes and the 250 really is the 250 class ?

The sad part is that the EPA and all the other environmental organizations never will address the fact that there is much solid evidence that the earth has has in much warmer phases before there was even a motorized vehicle...You won't hear them talk about that one...It would ruin their long term strategies. They need to worry alot more about litter and less about the stuff that even trees put out (they don't like to mention that either).

I just got done rebuilding my CR250 and it only took me 3 hours to install the cylinder including the tear down to the time it fired up. I'll ride this thing till I can't ride no more !!!!!! Lets see a 4 stroke cylider change that quick.

As I said , I dont have anything against 4 strokes , or the people riding them......I am also fully aware that lots of guys can run a couple of years on a 450 without any problems at all.
Trouble is , when a kid and his dad buys a 1 or 2 year old 250f , as the first bike ....When this bike explode , we will probably never see them again...
Keep in mind , that you US guys have several options from the aftermarket , and several companies to help out with engine work , over here most people are stuck with the dealer and OEM parts.
On a 125 there was kind of a limit as to what a blow-up could cost. Over here a new cylinder head for a yzf 250 cost around 1800-2000 US $....
Kawasaki parts have just been doubled in price etc....
Its absolutely insane over here , everybody buys a new bike every year , and you cannot get a decent price for anything that is a year old...After the Suz/Kaw 250f disaster last year , several racing careers over here has ended , and other guys have just gone back to the 125 , you cant find a new KTM 125 anywhere.
I have often been the one talking to the new people showing up at the track before they start buying stuff , and it hasnt exactly been easier the last few years to persuade them to start riding mx , when they hear about the cost of everything.

Hey viking, where are you located ? I'd like to look at chart of your nations currency because I think the exact same thing could happen here in the U.S.

Im in Denmark , Europe.
We dont have Euro´s here , we voted against it.
The Danish Krone is tied up to the Euro though , so the value against the Euro is almost not moving.
The US $ have been very low for some time , as you probably know.
There is no logic to the prices , KTM bikes cost the same over here as the Japan bikes , but the parts are quite a bit cheaper.
The Kaw import agency have just changed and they started off with a spare part price increase of 100 % , Im told...
As it is now , I can buy a bike in the US , pay to have it flown over here , pay 36% import tax ( on shipping AND bike) , and still save a bit of money.
Theres a sales tax of 25 % on everything , which doesnt exactly help , but the difference in price is far greater than that is guilty of.
We also have no recalls ever , no warranty at all , unless all the cranks in a certain bike blows up one year etc.
Its absolutely silly , and greed is the only reason for it.

Are you charged a sales tax in addition to import taxes on bikes purchased from the U.S. ? Have you considered Canada ?

When the U.S. dollar was much higher I bought a bike in Canada and save lots of money...unfortunately the dollar has come down and the canadian dollar has risen in value so that option isn't as attractive as it used to be...
