how to adjust the needle position

If anyone is familiar with a carb on a KX250, how do I change the needle position? I've done the main and pilot jets (easy). I'm having trouble with the needle. When I take the carb apart (from the top), I can't figure out how to get to the needle clip. Do I have to disconnect the throttle cable? If so, how? I'm afraid to start taking stuff apart that I don't know about but I'm sure it's not too hard.

thanks

It's pretty easy. Uncsrew the top of the carb where the throttle cable goes in. What comes out with the cable is the slide with the needle inside of it. You can see it sticking out the bottom of the slide. Pull the throttle return spring up until you have a clean grab at the cable. Pinch the cable with your thumb and forefinger, then push the cable into the slide. There is a "ball end" on the cable that is held in place by the spring. Push in and unhook the ball end from the slide. After that, there should be some kind of spring/retaining clip to remove (using needlenosed pliers). Then, turn the slide upside down and the needle should fall right out. Clip position on the needle is counted from the top of the needle. If someone says "2nd clip position", it's the second slot from the top, and so on.
