Michigan MX

There are several racing options for that bike and older bikes in michigan. The AHRMA National series has one race here in Michigan. There is also an AHRMA Great Lakes Regional series in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. The District 14 has a vintage series with the following classes:
Innovation - 1989 and Older
Evolution - 1981 and Older
Vintage - 1974 and Older

Hope this helps.

Yikes. I think the bike to have in that class would be either 88-89 CR125 (motor of doom) or 89 YZ125 (same basic bike as a 92..inverted forks etc).

An 85 YZ125 was handicapped by the BASS rear suspension, old style monocross linkage, doggy motor etc. Good luck!!!!

The bike won't make too much difference. I won the Non-Current class (2001 & Older) on my 1981 YZ 465 against a field of 20 riders.

Hi Crazy,
The AMA/District 14 vintage series schedule and points are available at mivmx dot com. MPX Racing in Sebewaing (the thumb) is going to run vintage classes next year. However, the bikes have to be air cooled to be eligible.

If you live near Indiana

Hey guys- calling out to those in Indiana as well as the adjoining states. A new club is forming to promote the riding of our old mx, enduro, and dual purpose bikes. Events being planned include practice days at vintage-friendly courses, motos, trail riding and static displays. Bikes from the 1950s to 2001 are welcome. The emphasis will be on getting the old beasts out of the garage and ride them again. To get more info, email me at hh19532h at aol and I will send you the link to our site on Yahoo (this site does not permit hyperlinks).
There is no cost to register on the yahoo site, so take a minute, sign up, and check us out.
