Those things are so fast that nobody has actually reached top speed yet.:)

Hard to say. Answer these few simple questions and we'll get ya' an answer.

1. How much does the rider weigh?
2. At what elevation?
3. What is the temperature?
4. What is the humidity?
5. What type of fuel?
6. What spark plug?
7. What is the gearing?
8. What is the condition of the engine?
9. What is the grade of the run?
10. Would you like two way averages or just the best one way?

90 mph, in the back of justql's dodge.:p Top speed is irrelevent. Depending on conditions, gearing, age of the engine, wind, uphill, downhill, who knows. I would guess, I mean guestimate, 55 mph.

It all depends on the powerband. If you have a white powerband you should be able to reach maybe 55mph, but if you get the aftermarket BLUE powerband, you should be able to reach ATLEAST 80mph. If you want more info about this special powerband, see your local dealer.

I would have to say 157 mph. if you cut off the throttle stop, remove half the spokes, run a bicycle chain on it and install a different engine.:silly:

Yanno I heard of a guy that installed factory KTM seat foam on a YZ85 and was never seen again! He HAD to be using a prototype powerband of some kind, maybe the cryogenically treated carbon/Kevlar one that Seth died trying to test?

trailhonda,
Don't let these meanies get ya down... they are just playing around. :D Ya see, this question gets asked about once a month and usually involves a bike of 100cc or less.

Thing is, no one can answer that question accurately without a lot of info from you and mainly, it doesn't really matter. What's important is how quick it is.

That's because he's still in the hospital recovering from a hemorrhoidectomy.:scream:

Okie has a valid point. I always have to explain the difference between quick and fast to my two eldest sons. They always ask how fast is a so-and-so? Is a x faster than a y? I give them the same answer(s) gearing, rider weight, conditions, blah blah blah.

To Okie's point - top speed rarely if ever will help you win a MX race. MX racing is a drag race from corner to corner with a few obstacles thrown in for a good measure. So the bike needs to be quick.

Difference between quick and fast (defined or explained)
Quick = a top fuel dragster is quick because it can reach 100 MPH in about 1 second.

Fast = a car trying to set the land speed record at the Salt Flats might reach 240 MPH, but it needs a 3 mile run just to get started. It doesn't accelerate quickly, but it goes fast. Get it?

Hope this helps.

That is a freak of nature. How the heck can those tires stick to the ground like that??!! Once in a life time experience, would love to do that just once.
