I’m going to try my hand at ice racing this winter. I already bought a set of slightly used ice tires from Fredette. Additionally I’ll be adding a set of grip heaters, wider handlebars (mine are cut down for the woods) and richening up the jetting. My only hang up is fender extensions. I’ve got an old set of fenders and some 1/16” aluminum flat stock for bracing. In the front I can use the axle pinch bolts with longer bolts. However, in the rear, the axle bolt is too short. Are there any other methods for mounting the bracing in the rear?

Eric - Feel free to move this to another forum for additional advice.

I ice race in mi. Heres what i use for fender brace. 1 in. flat alun. 1/4 in thik . your rear axle is probly hollow , get 5/6 threated rod run thruogh axle . the horizonal piece let it run by axle up to the side of swingarm ,hose clamp it to swingarm. I could draw it on paper better than i can type. call fredette he will probly help you out. good luck

Thanks for the info., but the GG has quick release axles. They are hollow, but have a handle running through one end. Makes it kind of a PITA for mounting a rear fender extension.

Haven't talked to Jeff yet. Spent an hour up at the local GasGas dealer (yeah, we got one of those here now) Saturday. He used to be the monkey on an ice racing streetbike/sidecar rig. He's also got experience making fender extensions. We looked at some alternative methods and might try a few things out.
