all data stored on your harddrives are made of zeros and ones. if you truly want to destroy all data on the drive so NOONE can get it back then you need to get a program to write all zeros to a drive then all ones and then all zeros again so that all data will be erased and the drive is wiped clean for a new start as if it just came out of the factory. unless you know how to partition a drive and reinstall windows/linux/mac os do not try this because you have to reload everything. but the easiest thing to do is prevent viruses from infecting you computer, dont go to porn sites, dont download pirated software/music, and dont do anything that will attract attention on your computer. just my two cents from an avid rider and computer techy. actually the best preventative method is to just go out and ride or watch a movie instead of sitting at home on a computer. it is much more enjoyable than sitting at a computer doing illegal stuff.

The Saga continue,
We had our, "intake hearing" yesterday. Met with our 2 lawyers with the Probation Officer.
They read my son his rights, then the charges and asked how we pleaded, "not guilty".
Seems that this Felony may be tossed out by the Supreme Court, and the law rewritten. If the DA can't prove that this person actually exists, (name, residence, etc, (by the person whom put the pics on)), then the pics may be computer generated. Thin, very thin, but maybe just enoght to make the charges lowered to a mister meaner. As, because the girls were nude and not engaged in a sex act, it may be considered, "art' not porn. Again thin, but...........
The other lawyer wanted to plead guilty, take the punishment, and ask to have his record cleaned after the punishment was served. SOMETIMES the judge will do that, that's a crap shoot. I don't want my son doing time for this.
we have a hearing in front of the judge on the 3 of March.
I read in todays paper that they nailed a adult for something like this, many more pics from a, "shared file". This guy had a ton including a new born baby! Sick!
One thing I can tell you, we were standing in the hall waiting, a bunch of boys came in from Juvinile Hall, handcuffed and shackled and it really ROCKED myself and my son.
I know that image will be for ever with my son and I hope it comes up if he EVER thinks about doing something bad again.

At this point it's hard to even think clear. My head is swimming with all that's happening to us.
Last year we were the typical racing family,(well not TYPICAL, no to many guys raising kids here in this area), and now I question EVERYTHING we say oor do or even think.
The stress level has to right up there at the top.

Mister Who !

I watched CourtTV for a day once, and was amazed at how some people would not take responsibility for their actions. Deny, deny, deny ... now I understand why. In your case, obviously you guys want to do the right thing, and the law is coming down hard. All I can say is don't focus too much on what is happening now, this time will pass. Try focus on where you want this to be/end in a few years time, and make your plans and decisions accordingly. Plan and do what it will take to get your family back together, don't let what is happening now destroy what future you might have. So deal effectively and decisively with whatever happens in the next few days and months, and then work at rebuilding. This can either destroy you, or make you all stronger - its in your hands. It might help finding a support group (besides DRN !) or church group. Stay strong.

It's nice to hear from all my, "Racing Family" for support, true, so true. I've been involved in racing/riding since'68 and really there are many times when I would rather be with this family than my own flesh and blood. Any group of riders will tell you there is a special bond we all have, (like it or not!).
I'm not really using this as a support group.
I'm letting ANYONE who has kids know, just what, (I think), was innocent curiousity, turn into a potential life altering event.
I told a lot of people who I ride/race with about this and more than a few have discovered something that may or maynot be illegal on their computer.
I thank you for your support, but I gotta say, (like I did to the lawyers when we left Tuesday), your going home to your kids?
I'm not, one is miserable 24/7 away from his home and life and the other is so depressed I afraid for him.

We had our hearing yesterday
Our defense was to drop all charges, as it may not be a crime for a minor to, "sexual abuse" another minor for looking at pics on the net and also the D.A. had to prove that these were infact real pics.
I got a chance to look at the pics, I dunno what I was expecting, a playboy type pic I suppose, but these were like poloroid pics of girls in high school at a beach! :( Gross to me anyway. I f I had to guess I'd say it was like a beer party at a beach somewhere and somebody talked these girls into stripping.
They wanted to do a 30 day elavlation of my some in-house somewhere to make sure he was just a kid being a kid, (they all thought that but they have to cover their kesters).
When we said that we had a brief to drop them and our lawyer told then it didn't matter HOW LONG it took to get it dropped, (continues after continues), they came back with, a 30 day evaulation with a counseler, then if he doesn't have a problem, then everything is dropped cleaned off his record. Best of all my youngest can come back home. :) :). it was gggrrreeeaatt to pick him up and drive him home.
I told the court we had a apt with a guy at 3pm that day, the judge was happy with what we desided.
I had my son dressed like a, "preppy", black slacks, white shirt, green sweater vest, hair short and neat. The judge commneted how how nice he was dressed and told him he was well spoken, (a tip to other parents, a LOT of kids were dressed like they were going to the hood, instead of a court).
I get the feeling that if we pushed we may have had it dropped, but over all I'm happy with the way it's turning out. I wanted to make sure my son was just being a kid when he looked at these. The court system wanted a quick finish to it, (assemble line justice, it's sad, sad, sad to watch it in action).
Last night my sons was in a much better mood. We joked @ at dinner, played cards after, talked for the first time in a long, long time. Both boys smiled, laughed, we almost normal. My youngest is going to finish the school year where he's at now, then back to our school dist. next fall, one more comute in the morning, small price to pay for his smiling face. :)
I woke up at 3 am this morning and freak out thinking it was a dream, til I went in and checked on them. Brought a tear to my eye to see just how close I came to losing them over 6 stupid pics.
The pics came up on a 1 page as a trailer, so he didn't look at 6 different ones. they were on a page oh, maybe 1 1/2" X 1 1/2". He didn't even inlarge any of them.
Funny after thought, the judge pulled all the legal people, the state police computer geek to the bench. Seems she, (it was a lady) got some pics of little kids on her computer!!!! She didn't know what to do with it!!!
They asked me if they can trash my computer, cuz the pis were there forever, (so much for being able to, "clean out your hard drive). I told them if they didn't I was going to get even with the computers, hammmer and torch style!

Wow Joe, thats one heck of an episode! I am glad things are working your way.

The gist of the problem is the complete lack of due process under the law. You are dead on when you say you are guilty until proven innocent. The Social Services use this to yank kids out of homes where there is imminent danger, and sometimes they get aggressive with that power. Its a 2 edged sword. They can save a kid's life one day, put another family through hell the next.

If you can find out who and where the scum is that has the website, I would sue him civily for all your legal expenses, family pain and suffering, future medical expenses, throw the book at him. Then give all the info to the Feds, let them go after him criminally.

That scum has violated the law by not properly maintaining age restrictions on viewers of his website. There must be a huge number of laws violated....

I'll never know who put the pics on the site. I just have to believe the, "authorites" do, how can they not????? If they can pull the entire record of when he was on, they have to be able to get the IUP address.
I am considering sueing AOL.
I think they failed, (or maybe do not police) what is place on the web. There has to some sort of policy of what does make it does not.
Even if I never see the end, just to let the W.W.W. that they have to police themselves.
If it stops 1 kid from seing something illegal, or snatching one bad guy, then I've done my job.
This has really scared my sons and my life forever. I'm sure the pressure of all of this has shortened my life, I can see the gray hairs to prove it!
Rather than taking things at face value, they slamed a kid, placed a 12 year old boy out of his home, for what they, "thought" was wrong doing. What frosts my cake is they NEVER even talked to me about it, they justed, "assumed" I/we were bad people.
I think 20 years ago, the cops would have come to the house, scare the be-Jesus out of him and that the end of it. Now they want a feather in thier caps for doing, "their job". The probation officer complained about being over worked to me yesterday.... You get no sympathy from me, you created this work load.

I'm glad it turned out for you, when I first read your plight it really hit home for me. I cna't imagine my three boys being taken from me, let alone having to fight the system and its insistence of "guilty until proven innocent". I say go after them all. I wonder if class action would apply to crud on the internet?

It is possible to get the IP addresses. In fact, if the police did not have them they could not know they were accessed by your computer's ISP.

FYI the US Congress passed measures to insure stuff like this is not posted on the internet and accessible to kids. The Supreme Court said the law was unconstitutional. Go figure. I can only hope it happens to their kids or grandkids. Well not really, but you know what I mean.

I hope they can get the A****** who put it on and let me have him for just a few, "justice" moments!
That was the brief that my lawers were going to try to us to have the charges dropped with. It's not, "offical" yet, but is about to be, (from my understanding).
They have to change ,"person" to "child", (I think), something like that.
You gotta think, if my sons charges were drop cuz of this, just think of all the scum that's going to walk cuz of it! The 'ol double edge sword thing!

Hey Joe, I just read about this website in my local newspaper. It was originated in the Spartanburg SC Herald-Journal, maybe you can find the article

www.cpiu.us

They track internet kiddie porn providers and child molesters, and turn the info over to the proper authorities. maybe they can catch that human detrius tha caused you such problems. Run by a guy who was voted the 4th best hacker in the world in 1996, when he was 12 yrs old!! Other hackers have joined in to help get the scum cleaned up.

Wouldnt hurt to try, I cant imagine they would give anything less than 100% if they heard your story!!

Thanks Robert! :)
I'll check it out and if I can I drop them a line.
The, "powers that be" have my 2 towers, (they're supposed to destroy them, but I have my doubts. Call me paranoid, but I have sadly learned not to trust the authorities), so I couldn't find out who sent them.
It just hit me, say I got the towers back, I go back and bring back up the sites, (to get the IUP addresses), I have broken the law! I have looked at those sites!
Maybe it's better I don't know, I'm a protective parent and I might not be able to control myself, if I could put a name or face to the site orginator!
If I had to put money on it, I'd bet it was a teenager, you know the type, all he thinks about is sex, (that's all he does, THINK) and got these girls drunk and did this terrible act.
I feel super sorry form these girls!

Dang, its gone!! I would have said that the loss of due process in child protection cases has been going on, at least in the state of SC, since the '70s. I would have to do some homework to give an exact date. Still, I am sure of my statement, a close friend of the family has been with the Dept of Social Services since '73.

Eazy, if you aren't happy with the Patriot Act or the President, it's your right. But to lay the blame for the situation that started this thread on either or both of them is wrong.
