Of Bubba; that is.

Reed is looking good, with the SX championship all but wrapped up, able to simply motor away from KW at Dallas. Of course, who knows how RC would have stacked up?

But something is hanging in the back of my mind . . . . .maybe it was the '02 season, with Reed and Bubba both after the 125 outdoors.

I don't recall the track, but I do clearly recall the incident, Bubba had checked out, was motoring around in front. Reed was giving it all he had in second. Bubba had a point to make, so he waited around for Reed to catch and pass him, then proceeded to completely humiliate Reed by setting him up and passing him like he was tied to a stump. Abolutely devastating him.

Anyone else remember that? I bet Chad does . . . .

Can you ever recover from a butt-whuppin' like that?

It was Unadilla, I just watched it last night on the Great Outdoors Special Edition. I am tired of Supercross. I am ready for the outdoors.

When I saw that race I remember thinking, "Reed will never beat Bubba again, ever." Of course, that was even well before we all knew just HOW fast Bubba really was. I'm sure Reed will have tons of confidence after winning the SX title, but I've got to think he hasn't forgotten about Bubba. Maybe it'll push Reed to kick it up a notch or two next year?

After watching reed this season im not so sure bubba is totally convinced he can out ride him every week, at sx on a 250.

Bubba beat reed bad on that day, but that doesnt mean he can and will on a 250 and stay on the bike.

Uhhh... what Dallas are we talking about? Not sure how it looked on TV, but sitting there, Reed didn't run away from KW, stayed in front yes, but did not build a large lead. It actually looked like KW was setting him up for a last lap nascar finish or something.

Correction: several days. It seemed like Reed fell down everytime he was near JBS all season long.

Okiewan, Just reviewed the tape. Reed won by about 5 seconds, and that was after he show boated on the last few jumps. Windham was right with him on lap 14 and 15, Reed had around 5 seconds on him by lap 19, though. I guess you can set somebody up from pretty far back when you're on a "mighty thumper". Ah, at least he managed to stay within a half a lap this week. :laugh:

GOOD POINT! But how bad would it look if Bubba stayed on the 125 and beat Reed every week in the 250 class?

What you guys are not getting about Bubba is that he is as fast or faster on his 125 than most if not all of the 250 riders every weekend. His lap times on the 250 are reported to be several seconds faster on the Kawi practice track than when on his 125. You don't think he i actually slower on a 250 do you?

Unless the boys in the 250 class pick it up, next year he will run away with it.

Actually I thought Reed started riding a little sloppy once KW started putting pressure on him! But, KW goofed up and cased that double and Reed was gone! KW even said he was riding over his head...."out of my comfort zone". Seems when Bubba was putting pressure on Reed he cracked then too!

As far as those two riding against each other outdoors, Reed just isn't as impressive outdoors. Look at him on the 250. Although Bubba is fast EVERYWHERE! Indoors it should be awesome! Let's not forget, RC wasn't racing this season. He's the guy that normally runs away with leads stretching to high-teens low 20's. Just because Reed is smoking everyone this season, doesn't mean he would still be the fastest guy if RC were there! RC has how many championships indoors? Compared to Reed's almost one?

Having fast lap times on the 125 was something RC did alot-he didnt do that well in sx on a 250 for the first season. Ive seen reed race with rc and KW indoors and he never once cracked under pressure.

People keep comparing his season outdoors on the 250f(you seem to also forget his indoor season on the 250f)- a class he never rode at home.Also didnt he have a separated shoulder for much of the season outdoors? he didnt do badly, but he got beat bad by bubba, that was a long time ago now and things have changed.

I want to see anyone go faster by more than a second a lap than reed indoors and not crash.

Doing fast laps at your own practice track on a 250 doesnt impress as its a no pressure situation.

There are quite a few world champions of the practice tracks, Marcus! :thumb:

But then, i am not surprized it had to take an expert class "Racer" to point this out to the fellow MX "Fans".

As i found out with a great shock, its a whole lot different when you find yourself running 3rd pinned into a tight hairpin with 25 bikes all around you trying to do the same.

Oh boy... next season there will be plenty of crow and humble pie served fresh every week. Maybe I'll be the one sitting at the table wolfing it down... One thing is for sure, there has been way to much smack talk about it for either side to just say "yeap, he (whoever he is) got beat" and expect the opposing side to sit there quietly.

It will be a good season next year, I hope every body rides well, is on the bike of their choice and stays healthy because we will likely never see such a stacked line up of top riders again... and i don't want there to be an asterisk next to JBS's first 250 SX/MX titles (slight jab) CR, RC, JBS, KW.. throw in The Rock, Ferry and Cobra and it is on like a pot of neck bones.

Thump, I'm with you. I just hope everyone can stay healthy, and fast, and we'll have some good racing.

Alot of people think Bubba will run everybody else off the track next year, and he might, but I hope not. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-JBS. But I sure don't want to see more of the same like the 125 east series this year. When the only hope of seeing any good racing is if bubba starts dead last and has to work his way to the front, and even then you only get about 8-10 laps of racing before it becomes the "see you later Bubba" show. Not that that's not something to see in itself, but I prefer it when the outcome is still in doubt on the last lap.

Personally, I hope Reed, Carmichael, Stewart, Windham, LaRocco, and Pastrana(and anyone else who can step up) spend all season next year racing bar to bar, indoors and out. I'm pulling for a six(or more) man show. :thumb:

Crow???? when the wrong rider wins....not on this site.....they just all fall into a belated silence. Is Reed scared??......do you think Bubba has fear???.....does KW lay up at night scared of Chad???......Is RC having nightmares before his comeback????? No...Nope.....nah....Nuh!!!!

These men are not scared. They do not think about each other. They got to be that good by worrying about themselves. Ive said it before they are fighter pilots, each of them thinks he can shoot the other guy down...no problem!!!

Reed raced the 250 outdoors last year, even switched mid season to the 450 because it just wasn't coming together. I was NEVER impressed with his riding outdoors! Some keep saying he'll be a front runner this season, but I don't see it happening.....although it would be nice though to have some real racing...ie.KW and RC last season!

Gee...sounds similar to all those others who just couldn't see him as a threat for the SX title. 3rd overall outdoors last year???...but he cant ride outdoors.....can he.....no.....he rides it faster than everyone but KW and RC...but...he cant ride outdoors. Along as his heads into it he'll do good.

I'm really bummed that guy who was calling him Fad Reed got the boot, I was looking forward to jamming it up his nose. I think we will see some more speed out of Skippy this summer in the nationals.

Im hopin that he shows some speed for the Nats, i wanna be able too blink and miss the top 3, on the last lap too boot :debil:

He's definitely fast outdoors, but if his previous outings are any reflection of what's to come this year then he'll not be a contender for the title. Third's really good, but he wasn't even on the same side of the track as RC and KW last year.

what you guys fail to remember is two weeks after the Unadilla incident reed came out at milville and engaged in a 1st moto battle with JBS and straight up beat and walked him by close to ten seconds, he has it in him.
