I want to see anyone go faster by more than a second a lap than reed indoors and not crash.

Doing fast laps at your own practice track on a 250 doesnt impress as its a no pressure situation.

Everyone forgets Reed had a shoulder separation from round 4. Come Millville (round 10). He was fastest in practice and won the first moto by a wide margin. Stewart came back and won the second moto, tying Reed for points for the day and taking the overall, since the second moto best score is the tie-breaker.

No doubt Bubba was the man. But it would not have been the same butt whippin if Reed was 100% healthy. Also he's improved 10 fold since the 2002 season. You will see a better rider in Reed outdoors. I'm not saying he's going to kick a$$, but I'm sure the racing will be even closer.

Yeah, again though stewart got top3 starts both motos while reed got a top 3 start and something around 10th the 2nd moto and still tied JBS for points...and reed didn't win the 1st moto by default he and JBS made multiple passes on eachother and had a good battle going for a number of laps but in the end reed was able to pass JBS and clear out, he is fast outdoors, fast enough to beat RC or K-dub is up for debate, but faster than the 37 other riders in the field by a wide margin.

Not to take anything away from Reed, (I think he would have beaten RC in SX this year) to assume Bubba will crack under pressure is a big ASSumption.

Bubba cracks under no pressure thats his problem.He outrides himself and crashes, im not sure he will be better or worse under pressure, but it doesnt look like a recipe for beating KW,RC and reed IMO.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but watching the Dallas race I was really impressed with Reed's riding. He was clipping the top of all the jumps and powering all the way down the backside just like MC always did. I really haven't seen the other guys do that this season like I thought would happen. Even Bubba doesn't do that as much as I thought he would, and everyone else looks a lot more like they're gliding down the backsides.

Reed said he was embarrassed by last season's showing and does not want to repeat that. I think he will step it up a notch or 2 this coming season. Whether or not thats enuff notches to stay with RC and KW is another story. RC is tough and probably has the most heart of any rider. But I'm a Reed fan so I'm pulling for CR to step it up.

I don't think Langston would agree.. seeing as the only serious bobble I've seen out of Reed this year left him on GL's back wheel, taking them both down and GL out for the day..

(yes, it was not really that hard of a crash, but it was only one week after GL had perfected the concrete face plant)


As far as JBS and next season,,, he has the potential, I don't think anyone would dispute that, especially Reed who made it a habit to watch JBS at every East race and started trying to copy his lines and cornering technics. After watching Reeds corner speed these last few weeks, I think he's getting it.
The one thing I see JBS doing better than Reed is staying low and keeping up speed on the jumps, I think RC also does that better than Reed.

no ones questioning JBS's ability to stay low over jumps, i think it was pontiac where he threw that insane whip/scrub off a triple in his heat, breathtaking, just breathtaking.

Didn't he just do that in Indy? Did it last year at the Open as well. These aren't minor bobbles either, when he goes down he goes down hard....bad things happen at the speed he's running!

Humm... 2 crashes in two seasons, yet still two Championships. His inconsistency will ruin him. :p (it wasn't the US Open, it was the Vegas Round last year.)

Just like before-he should have swept the 2004 sx season but didnt. Thats the point -no can beat bubba but bubba and so far hes gave the competition a big helping hand.

I hear ya Marcus! I just don't put as much weight in it as you do. RC crashed his brains out early on, but quickly earned 10 championships.

As far as 02 Millville, I seem to remember there was something wrong with Stewart's bike. A peg off, or a motor issue or something. Reed or anyone else, anytime Stewart's beaten by 10 seconds, he either wrecked hard or his bike was broken. No one has ever outridden him (since he turned pro), Reed included.

I think the real deal next year will be RC vs Stewart. Remember that last year in SX, Reed slid out in a fit of excitement passing RC. RC said he just let him by because he knew he would dump it. RC has now developed the maturity of a champion, and IMO is the most likely one out there with balls big enough to take a stab at the Bubba. Reed is a learner, but we'll see how FIERCE he is soon enough. Daayyyyammmnnnn this is gonna be good.

I tend to agree, but will reserve judgement until after the outdoors.

Shoot! I wish Bubba would go ahead and ride the 250 outdoors!

I'll eat a large bowl of crow (post that I'm an idiot that should not predict MX wins) and dye my hair blonde if Stewart does NOT finish ahead of Reed in his first full season (250 nats).

Any one else wanna step-up? Or are we just going to debate it to death?

The end game for JS is records. Its all about being the best ever..I would get a kick out of watching RC jump back to the 125's (If he could With AMA pro ruless relative to elgibility) to win a few more races to add to his total...the tail wagging the dog. :debil: JS would then try to respond sometime in his career (after he demolishes RC's current 125 records & moves to the 250's) and then RC could move back to the 250's to try and hang onto his 250 records...

I think RC is going to have a tough time getting his fire back. If he does this 250 outdoor season...then he has to contend with a NEW Yellow bike next year...more adjustment. I hope for the best but thing this year will belong to JS in whatever class he try's..even the 250 outdoors should he go there. :thumb:

What a time to watch...not since the late seventies/early eighties have there been as much raw talent to enjoy!

Reed? I don't think he's many time championship material. Not the way MC & RC were and JS is now.

Nah; not hind-sight, just a bit more info. I am not convinced Ricky will be up to speed. (I did mean the '04 outdoors)

Tell ya what; crow tastes a lot like blackbird, and I don't mind it too much, so I'll jump.

I think Bubba will control (dominate might be too strong a word) the 250 outdoors in '05. Windham, Reed, and yes, even RC will be racing for second in the championship. Not to say that the old guard won't get a win or two (there will not be another perfect season for a while), but Bubba will win more races, and those that he doesn't win, he will be in the hunt.

My one condition is that Bubba starts the season healthy. If he can do that (and that is why I sure wish he would do it now) I believe he will win in convincing fashion. Not run away with it, but there will be no question at the end of '05. Maybe even wrap it up with one race remaining.

'05 Supercross? Pastrana will win six races and the title! :laugh:
