You're probably going to have to lean the Pilot on that bike a couple of steps..

I did that, and added a set of Boyesen Pro Series reeds, made quite a bit of difference.

When you say you went down a clip, Did you move the clip toward the top or the bottom the the needle?

oh sorry i went from the first groove to the second groove at the top

Ok, so you leaned the needle out a bit..

I'd bet that if you dropped the pilot one or two sizes, you'll get a nice case of whiplash.

you can get them from Motocyclecarbs.com really cheap...

I would also drop the main by 1 to start. They jet them pretty rich from the factory.

But think about getting the next 2 sizes down from stock.

FIRST THOUGH.. Open your carb, see what's in there now. It's likely stock, but.. be sure.

The sizes are stamped into the sides of the jets.

Here's a link..

Those are the pilot jets for the carb on the YZ85. Go with the Aftermarket Jets he sells, they're a buck cheaper, and just fine for that bike.

Here's a link to the mains..

arent the yzs known for float height issues when they come and clean up when properly adjusted. a two stroke is usually 2 sizes on the pilot and main too rich.

i hadent changed the jets yet but the plug looks sorta mocha brown like a rusty brown
but i got i didnt change them because i was planning on getting v force 3 reeds then jetting correctly , when i put them on the plug got tan so im guessing this is ok? ive been riding it like this for a while now. the thing is that when i give it full throttle it doesnt speed up accelerate it just kind of stops picking up speed like mid throttle i get more out of it then full throttle how do i fix that what do i have to change i was thinking about startingg with the needle , oh and indy in the manual it says going down grooves makes it richer and up groves leaner or am i reading what you said wrong ?

What is your air screw adjusted to? If you read a lot of stuff on jetting, what happened to the plug chops? You need to get the air screw-pilot set. Then fiddle with the needle, lowering the clip makes it richer. Then the plug chop on top.

If he mover the needle down from the top position slot #1 to the second position slot #2 he didn't lean the needle, he made it richer!!
