OK, I can't wait so here it is... An email from Charlie Morey (he said I could post it) Hi, Wes! I have the negative around here somewhere - it's the exact 'WHERE' that's a mystery at the moment. =8-) I took that picture of Jimmy Weinert slamming Tony DiStefano at a National MX somewhere in Ohio in the late '70s. At the time, I was bummed; I knew it would be a cool picture, but I accidently sent the roll of film to CYCLE NEWS/West instead of taking it back to Georgia with me to CYCLE NEWS/East, where I worked at the time. Anyhow, they wound up using on the cover, and we had to settle for others at CN/E. We were pretty competitive between the two editions. One of the projects I hope to complete before the end of this year, is to search through all my old MX negatives and get the best ones digitized on a CD. Then, I'll put up a photo gallery of vintage MX (Brad Lackey, Jimmy Weinert, Kent Howerton, Roger DeCoster, Joel Robert and all those other old guys) on the web. At the time, some of them were used as t-shirt designs, and one even formed the basis for a Scott USA logo (the Lackey cross-up). If you're interested, watch for it here: http://www.cyberpresspublishing.com/. The MX gallery will be in a format similar to the ones there now. Or later (no site there yet) here: http://www.digitalphotography.tv (hope to have this one functioning as a real photography ezine/business by early 2002). If you like, you can sign up to receive the DPTV Ezine on CYBERpress now (that way you'll definitely get notice when the MX photos go up): http://www.cyberpresspublishing.com/dp/. If you're patient, you can catch a quick glimpse of the Weinert/DiStefano photo on this page of my old resume site (made it in 1996): http://home.earthlink.net/~cmorey/specs.html There's a gif animation at the bottom of the page, and after you see everything from my baby pictures to a close-up of my eyeballs, you'll finally get to view the moto photo. Thanks for your email and the kind words about Dirt Rider! Take care, Charlie Morey
