well its that time again. every year guidence visits the sophmores in their health class and hand out this stupid little packet thing that is supposed to determine what job you should do. i have no clue what i want to do. i just want to have enought money to ride. and support my family. so im wondering what jobs you fellas do.:silly:

What are you interested in? It won't matter much for most anyway. Do you have any idea how many people are actually employed doing anything remotely close to what they majored in in college? :silly:

I moderate the Euro Trash Forum on DRN. The pay isn't so great, OK more like nonexistant but the perks are..... well there nonexistant too but, the free bikes.. don't exist.:think Oh, yeah the place that gives me a paycheck employs me as a Civil Designer/CAD manager/Network guy. Yes I get to play a lot, just put "Boss" on the blank and be done with it.:)

well i love cad and i love shop. i can do just about anything with my hands from carpentry to running a lathe or even wrench on a bike. id love to be a pro mechanic. but id much rather be racing. and i cant do both. so i need to kinda figure out what i want to do. i mean the ppl that talk to us make it wound like if we dont decide today then well end up being street wonderers.

i'm the oddball. i majored in civil engineering and surveying. now, i'm a surveyor for a civil engineering and surveying firm.

I'm an industrial technology student. More common name for IT grads would be Manufacturing engineer. It's a great field, sorta like mechanical engineering only there's a lot of other stuff like material science and production courses. There's more info at the National Association of Industrial Technology's website www.nait.org or check with your local college. You could take a look at some of the courses and fields of study at http://webit.ent.ohiou.edu just click on courses.

I have a degree in Russian and now I do the books for a couple of different machine shops. I had no idea what I wanted to do when I was in high school except party and get out there. One can waste a lot of time "figuring" out what they want to do. Supporting a bike habit won't be that hard. Just do what you feel like doing now; you'll change your mind, believe me:o

I'm like speedy. I went to college to find out what I didn't want to do! I did get a degree, though!

Now I've got a job where I do what Taraker says (as little for as much pay as possible ;) ), and I can dink around the internet for most of the day!

If I had any internet smarts whatsoever (and maybe a little dinero) I could probably find time to make a website. But that might be work! :scream:

I would not suggest it. I had to get a 6 year degree. The pay is great but you move a lot and the hours suck. No one ever wants to die between 9am and 5 pm so there are a lot of nights involved. I work part time roughing people up and causing basic havoc when needed.

Back on topic. Pit Monkey-Engineering, man. There's some cool stuff to be done in those fields. Pick what interests you. The schooling in physics, mathematics, thermodynamics etc. is worth the price of admission alone. Plus you get to play with Cad, etc. If you get into a decent position, you may find yourself working in some very cool hi-tech environments. The possibilities are endless. Just remember that your schooling now is what will pave the way for your future. Tough to swallow at a young age, I know, but true nonetheless. Good luck!

I've not gotten into my classes much, I didn't decide on a major until late and then it took some time to get into the correct school here. On the plus side I've gotten almost all of my generals out of the way :)
