JR50 will not idle

Ok, I'm new to dirt bikes so go easy... I just picked up a used JR50, I don't know what year it is (is there any way to find out?). It will start right up, first kick, every time. But it will not run more than 5 or 10 seconds. It revs up then shuts off. I've done a few searches and I am inclined to think that it's not getting enough air or getting too much fuel... does this sound right? What should be my first step in fixing the problem? Cleaning the carb? are there any good articles on how to do this?

Thanks for the help

There are two screws that I can see on the carb. I think it's the lower of the two. Is this correct?

More than likely, the carb will need to be cleaned.
