Sources in Southern California have just informed Racer X that Jeremy "Showtime" McGrath has put in a significant number of laps on a KTM 250 in recent days. As part of clandestine test put together by the Austrian-based off-road motorcycle marquee, the seven-time AMA 250cc Supercross Champion was said to have been very impressed by the machine, which is, in theory, based off the works bike currently being raced and sorted out by James Dobb in the 250cc World Championship Series. With Travis Pastrana allegedly on good terms with Team Suzuki and Sebastien Tortelli's allegedly close to a Suzuki contract, one is left to wonder what options now remain open for McGrath at this point in time. If he is interested in forming a relationship with KTM, there is also the issue of McGrath's Bud Light sponsorship deal. With the KTM American race operation heavily supported by Austrian-based energy drink maker Red Bull, the issue of McGrath's sponsorship program with Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light brand is sure to become an issue. Although if common sense comes into play, there seems to be no reason why McGrath could not form a separate KTM satellite team badged in a Bud Light sponsorship scheme.
