Guys , I just bought a -99 YZ 125 for my youngest son , any comments on this model ?
I think I remember problems with the exhaust bridge cracking , but Im sure that problem has been fixed long ago now ,if it was ever a problem....
Wont get a manual , so if anyone knows , please tell me the standard oil level in the forks , and the amount of oil in the gearbox , just to get us started.....
I had a 99 YZ - overall a good bike but needs to be taken care of like anything else.
The gearbox oil is 650cc - check where you fill it up to be sure, it will be stamped on the side of the clutch cover.
I can't remember the fork oil level. I bought a Clymer manual, it was a good investment. I think the forks were tough to service, special tools required if I remember correctly. Good luck on the bike.
A few other things to check right off:
- Chrome peeling on the slide
- Lube the linkage and swingarm bearings
- There may have been a recall on the throttle
Well , I guess there was problems with the exhaust bridge...
I wasnt sure if it was the 125 or the 250....
But , Im sure this problem has been fixed long ago on a bike this old.
He will have to learn it all over again , Im afraid....
He had some epilectic seizures a few years ago , was pretty quick on an 85 untill then....Biggest problem will be to calm him down a bit the first time !
