i have a kdx 200 1994 with a countershaft seal leak.
how do you replace it? can you replace it with out tearing the whole engine apart or not?

Yeah no big deal. Remove the chain, remove the snap ring and counter sprocket. You can use a big gnarly phillips head screw to run into the old seal and yank it out. Push the new one in and re-assemble. Pay attention to the location of the 2 o-rings when you're taking stuff off the counter shaft.

You may want to loosen the chain and try to hold it out of the way.

Another suggestion is to use a pipe spring puller to get the seal out. Replace the collar and o-ring, as well as the seal AND the sprocket circlip.

You are looking at a $20 problem. Add on $4, plus tax at Harbor Freight, if you don't already have a spring puller.
