i see that kawasaki droped the compression presure from 151 ps1 to 136 psi in 2000 whats with that
it seems like doing that would make it make less power

I am pretty sure nothing changed in thoes years. I've never heard of a change in compression, 151 and 136 are both way too low. A worn out KDX will be around 165. If you are looking at used one's, the one that has been best cared for will be the most reliable.

btw I owned a 96 which is also the same as an 05 (except for color) and it was totally reliable.

cheers

If you are getting that kind of compression maybe you should try another gauge. My service manuel says 90 to 155lbs. 90 needs to be serviced. My 99 last year was 150 after alot of riding this year is down to 140 and feels just as strong as ever. Another thing is stick to only 4 kicks. I can sit there and keep kicking and get mine alot higher. But several mechanics told me after the big jumps in compression stop, you stop. When it is just moving 5 or 10 lbs. Your are wasting your time. Pick 3 or 4 kicks and mearsure that way ever time and yop will be more accurate.

I always kick untill it doesn't go much higher with additional kicks. Don't have the bike anymore, but when I stuck a comp tester on it for fun it was 165-170. Ran great.

Anyway, I am pretty sure that they didn't change anything other than stickers/plastic colors in the last decade.

good luck
