KDX175 year help

hello, i just picked up a complete running (what was said to be) 1982 Kawasaki KDX175 for 250 bucks. i have been on the web trying to really see if it is a 1982, because when i stared tearing it down for a make over i saw the silencer said 1979 KDX175. it has a mono shock and looks like the 1980-1982 style KDX175. the frame reads, at the tripple tree (DX175 001681A) then i belive just a dash atfer the A. its full on old coal mine dirt so i was just wondering where some other #'s might be to 100% tell the year, i belive they rigged and 1979 silicener on this bike, but just was wondering if the 1979 KDX175 was a twin shocker since the 250 was.

DX175A001681 is the number on the head tube. so is this a 1981 KDX175 ill be damned tho the silencer say 1979 KDX175 so i dont know what its on there and its OEM too if they never made it.....beats me

i belive its a 1980 becuase i looked on the web site you have me and the 1980 was the only year that it shows the swing arm with the UNI-TRACK sticker on, and thats what mine has on. ill WD40 that thing next time i work on it, wensday, thanks for the help so far, it would of bee alot easer if the orig back fender was on, not some universal thing.

1980's had the uni track sticker on the swing arm, mine has that.

if it has the original seat and rear fender you can tell like this:
79 has a mx style fender and has kdx in green letters
80 has a mx style fender and has kdx in WHITE letters
81 has an enduro (curves down toward the end) style fender with green lettering
82 has an enduro style fender with white lettering

Also if you get the vin off the bike and call up a kawaski dealer they will tell you right away because it could be that the original owner scrounged up some parts off other 175's.

I'Ve got an 1981 KDS 175. If you look on Kawi's website there is no 1979 175 KDX. And don't even think of finding the age of your bike with the Vin on that site too !

One other place you could look for a number to determine the year of the bike is at the base of the cylinder on the clutch side.

You may want to take a look in the members gallery since I've posted some pic of mine and compare between the two.
