KDX200 also comes with a six-month limited warranty.
The KDX220R also comes with a 90-day limited warranty.
Why would the 220 have a shorter warranty? Because of the "R"??? An extra 18cc = less warranty???

I dont think either of them come with anything but a 30 day warranty like race bikes because they are a 2 smoke.

whats the warranty on a kx of any size?

The warranty on the my KX was absolutely nothing! A little scary when you are coughing up the money, but I've never needed it.

No warranty on the KX's, the KDX warranty info is right from the Kawasaki web site.

I wonder if it's a case of Big K's web guys not knowing the correect info, or if they dropped the warranty coverage period on the '05's?

My 220 had a 6 month warrenty. Dealer even honored it about a week before it was up (cylinder/piston).

What caused the problem?

Hey Adam, what happened to your piston/cylinder? The famed 220 piston failure? Did you have any mods? I have an '04 220 and am changing the piston as a precaution. What premix oil were you using?

Mike.

Well, I can't seem to private message ya, so here it is.

The locating pin on the piston (locates the end gap of the rings, keeps them from moving) backed out of the piston and gouged the crap out of the cylinder. Everything else was fine. Mods consist of some lights and stiffer fork springs, no motor mods at all. Running 40:1 with Klotz Techniplate oil, stock jetting. Maybe 500 miles on the bike. I bought it new this past July and got a 6 month warrenty. Dealer covered everything with no questions asked, and I just walking in with a box of parts and my warrenty card, didn't even buy it from that dealer. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks man, I never heard of the groove pin coming out. good luck on the new one. I just have a FMF Gnarly torque pipe on mine and rejetted the carb, took the top of the airbox. I just got my Wiseco piston but haven't put it in yet. I think my bike has 600-700 miles on it. I think next year I'll do the RB carb mod and probably port the cyl. I ride at real high altitude 8-12,000' so the bike could use some air.

Mike.
