i finally got a chance to pull the top end of my 89 kdx everything looked good except for one of the gears was broken do i have to buy entire kips assembly or can i replace just what is broken?if i do have to replace entire valve where is a good place to get it.

Just replace the broken gear. Servicehonda can get the part for you, or just about any other place you like to shop.

Might want to investigate why the gear broke so the new one doesn't suffer the same end.

yeah good luck with that. The E series KDX's are notorious for eating those subvalves. Seems to me the best thing you can do is keep them clean and hope you're lucky.

well the gear it self did not break just the top of it kind of looks like a pin only about 1/4 inch of it sheared of so not sure what would have caused it to break.everything moved free.bike was running like a raped ape.
