WHAT IS BETTER FOR MY BROTHER he is 4feet and 4 inches
i thought a
KLX 110
TTR 90
HONDA XR 80 or 100
please tell me a approximate speed if possible

You need to go read the rules and provide us with a little more information. Stats like age, riding experience, riding conditions and parental involvement will be very helpful.

Speed is never an issue unless you are desert riding or drag racing. Trail riding is about skill not speed. Skill translates into speed. I've seen a guy on a TTR125L blow by a guy on a CR250 in Illinois at the first Dirtweek.

Nope, that was AJ riding a bone stock TTR. A graphic example of the 90/10 rule in racing :)

Ivan I could add a possibility, if he was concerned about the safety of his brother et. I wouldn't want my 7 yr old brother on a bike with a top speed of 40 MPH. Other than those its not needed.

small small 7 year old = JR50/PW50/KTM50/Husky50 .. the list goes on
small 7 year old = XR70/TTR90
Bigger 7 Year old = KLX110
BIG 7 year old = JR80 Faast :p

Rich AJ wasn't hauling at SF00, the dude on the CR250 was stuck in 1st ;) - AJ and KelvinKDX sure tore up the hare scramble course on that stock TTR125 as well

Good point and I agree. However, that is where throttle stop and quality supervision is important. The gear shifter is also removeable.

I hope NO child or inexperienced rider is riding without supervision and instruction.

Also unless I am mistaken there is a restrictor plate in the exaust flange and a bushing on the carb slide.

I know for a fact that the KDX 50 has them, seince the 110 is the next step in the line it would make sense. If not just let him take his time an learn.
As for speed I have seen many a post get shot down for this vary question, Ivan was charitable so I will be too. Speeds of various sized bikes are irrelivent, unless you are using them for time trials. I doubt your little bro is going to be worried about his stats in the 1/4 mile. Accidents happen at any speed, the important thing to remember is the right gear, and riding with in ones own abilaty(SP). Check around your area for a riding class for novice riders. It will do wonders to ease your worries and increase your brothers abilaties ;)

So does anyone have an opinion on the 110. My son is on the short side he is 8 and 52lbs . He was on a jr50 for a while and it was to small so we got him the next lowest seat height bike we found which was a PW80. He likes this and is really good on it but can only touch on the balls of his feet . I know we will be upgrading soon though because he grew 2 inches over the summer. I am looking into next year and maybe a used KLX110. So are they decent bikes. We only trail ride no mxing. He has cleared the creek in one jump several times now so it is getting easier for us to ride together.

I think in AJ's case the rules is more like 99/1. I'm pretty sure he'd stomp most folks while riding a XR80.

I have a hunch he will want to jump. Maybe not race. If so the KLX would not be as good of a choice as a KX 65 or 80. Have him sit on a few bikes and see how he stacks up.

Also, do a search in the mini forum and you will get a lot better responses from parents who already have went through the decision making process you are going through.

PW80 to KLX110 not a good move, both bikes are similar in size, and the KLX110 is heavier. You may want to look at the XR80 after the PW80.

The JR80 may be a better bet than the KLX110, still, if he is getting air, you may want to look at an MX bike, KX60/65, RM 60/65.

Check out the latest REV magazine, has a whole issue on the mini bikes.
