I own a 2004 DRZ125 which I just purchased about a month ago... Back in the mid-80s, between the ages of 10 and 13 I rode a `84 CR60 and eventually moved up to a `86 CR80. In 1993 I purchased a `89 Honda Hawk GT 650 Hawk, which I sold a year later. When I decided to get back into riding dirt bikes (at nearly 30 yrs old), I went with the DRZ for a) cost b) size c) fun factor. I'm only 5'5" and about 145lbs. I can easily sit on the bike and feel confident riding it. It's a tad slow (relatively speaking), but I intend on pepping it up with some BBR mods shortly. I figure after I add an aftermarket carb, stiffer springs, pipe, 150cc big bore kit, Powroll cam and remove the airbox snorkel, I should be having mucho fun out on the trails (not like I do at the moment anyway!). For myself, it's a lot of bang for the buck... and since I haven't ridden in about 10 years, it's a confidence booster until I decide to get something larger / faster. And if I do decide that riding a dirt bike isn't for me (fat chance), I didn't waste much money. I think they're great starter bikes for someone like myself. God knows I'd probably kill myself on a 125 2-smoke.
